An overview of different herbal realities focusing on the medicinal value of plants, indigenous herbs of South Africa
and aspects of the herbal industry that affect the person in the street.
Since time does not allow most of us to read long newsletters, this newsletter will only deal with one herb at a time starting with the series kitchenwise and streetwise.

• Street-wise----Medicinal herbs growing wild and recognised as weeds in the streets, garden and the wild.
• Diabetes part 1

Lavandula augustifolia (English Lavender)
Lavandula dentana (French Lavender)

When you read about the ignorance and lack of care of the government, it is very difficult to stay cool.
At some level it has been suggested that the powers that be want that smoke screen of mayhem.A current example is fracking in the Karroo. With all the facts at hand is appears close to psychopathic behaviour to allow the water table to be violated by gas mining. Ancient cultures used lavender for treating insanity and psychosis. Lavender tea for politicians instead of votes may well be a road to a decent country.

Lavender has been used for nervous conditions and their symptoms. Imagine the smell of a lavender flower so gentle and soothing. A tea of a heaped teaspoon to a cup of hot water is helpful for insomnia and easily available from your or an acquaintances’ garden. Sweeten it with honey for mild depression.

Delightful to the stomach when it is irritated by some nervous condition, lavender calms the intensity of stomach nerves. Steeped in bath water as a whole herb or as lavender oil, anxiety and stress dissolves.

An old folk remedy is that using the oil or above ground parts including the flowers in a bath also helps relieve gout, muscle pain and rheumatism. Science has a bit of the answers yet experience over many generations is as valid as ice cream on a hot summers day.

Acne is often helped using the oil applied directly as lavender has anti microbial and anti-inflammatory properties. Those properties also help with colds and coughs. A tea can also be taken by adding a teaspoon of dried herb to a cup of hot water or a few fresh twigs.

Until we realize that we are not really separate from the powers that be, from the low levels of politicians to the higher “spiritual” levels, the plant and animal kingdoms, our relationship with the different worlds will be closed to us:
To Spend a few minutes a day to be silent, to let go, commune with a plant, listen to uplifting music (rap is recycled violence} and imagine an uplifting symbol is lacking in many daily lives. Just doing nothing, feeling alive and vivid is a wonderful way to negate the cloud of confusion being spread over our planet.

Tamoxifen is used to treat cancer of the bile ducts and breast cancer. It has side effects ---researchers in Germany believe that Lavender can replace that drug. Plant species generally deserves more respect than pharmaceutical drugs with their side effects. Lavender can be taken during pregnancy, lactation and has no side effects or contraindications.

Some folks use it for asthma although it may be the calming action of the volatile oils not so much the antibacterial properties that are also helpful for colds.
Lavender oil is being used as a bath additive for perineal discomfort and repair following childbirth so diverse and extraordinary is a simple plant.

Diversity--- genetically modified seed production is reducing bio diversity which is as so much bigger a danger than poaching rhinos. Both are heinous crimes, yet not much is publicized regarding the GM conspiracy. GM seed is not properly researched and with false promises, huge corporations threaten coming generations, the balance of nature and the farming community, thus affecting the continuation of the food chain and species.

Read food labels and note what has GM ingredients—it may be difficult -- as no legislation is passed for labelling GM products which means that if your kid gets ill from some soya baby food or milk you have no recourse and the future rulers of the planet (corporatocracy) are free to carry on their devastation in the name of greed.

Bread is not what it used to be. Soya is added to it and that soya is not kosher because someone has been tinkering with what makes it tick so a new unknown plant is the result.
Hail the banana republic of America from where so much of the obscenities are spread throughout our planet.

Lavender is used for Meteorism. I get the impression that most fat lazy ministers, sleek corporate carpetbaggers, slimy false smiling bank executives, police, power mad clerks and slothful non service orientated personal suffer from it. Meteorism is uncontrolled flatulence and a cup of lavender tea goes a long way to quell the storm..
People need to take back their power—plant a vegetable garden, read labels and don’t buy stuff with MSG and E functions—if you can find any. Frequent organic and farmers markets. Non-violent resistance is like a flowing river. Surf it china before its too late.

A general rule when making a herbal tea, ideally water should be boiled and allowed to cool a bit, then add the herb and steep for 15 minutes before drinking.

The process of cutting a herb generates heat so the finer the cut of the herb so too does the potency diminish that little bit. So I recommend the rough tea cut rather than teabags even though it appears to be a mission to make in the rush rush everyday world. The surface area of a finer cut allows for more absorption if the herb is finely cut with not much heat generated.

Guidance with professional health practitioners from the naturopath, sangoma, dietician, alternative healer to a MD is an responsible course of action when dealing with any substance affecting your health.

These herb properties are directly connected to and derived from the forces of nature - if you want to call it Godhead, Greater hierarchy, Krishna, Yaveh, Allah, it does not matter—these are the forces that we can trust today. So treat the herbs with the respect due to a great natural force, never mind the ravings of a semi lunatic political, media force doing their best to undermine common sense.
Prevention is better than cure.

In the next newsletter we will deal with Coriander in the series called Kitchen wise - talking about medicinal properties of the usual herbs found in the kitchen.

With the real increase in sugar based tinned foods, SSBs (sugar sweetened beverages) and sweets the increase of diabetes has rapidly escalated whereby about a billion people have that complaint and the symptoms which are further enhanced by the indiscriminate use of pharmaceutical drugs and the side effects of those drugs.

Fenugreek seeds (Methi) and fenugreek sprouts alleviate the symptoms of diabetes type 1 and are easy to sprout (see newsletter no 19). They are bitterish and obtained from health shops or an Indian grocer.
Flax seeds too may prevent diabetes type 1.

A good raw diet has wonderfully positive effects for those willing to tread that path.

A big no no is feeding soy milk to children, which may cause the complaint.
Cortisone may destroy the insulin producing cells and add its contribution to the mad medical spree causing Diabetes type 1.

How did this stuff ever get on the market?
Well I guess you had better ask the FDA, WHO and other friends of the big pharmaceuticals.
In the meantime read the labels and check the ingredients.

I fell and hurt myself as a child and was given sugar water and since then it has been a good thing.
Contrary to all our brainwashing, sugar is not good for you.

“And before you leave the market place, see that no one has gone his way with empty hands.
For the master spirit of the earth shall not sleep peacefully upon the wind till the needs of the least of you are satisfied” Khalil Gibran
