SING FEFUR NEWSLETTER NO 25

An overview of different herbal realities focusing on the medicinal value of plants, indigenous herbs of South Africa
and aspects of the herbal industry that affect the person in the street.
Since time does not allow most of us to read long newsletters, this newsletter will only deal with one herb at a time starting with the series kitchenwise and streetwise.

KITCHEN-WISE
GARLIC
ALLIUM SATIVUM

Giving your boss who honks of raw garlic a cup of parsley tea or a few parsley leaves, fennel seeds and caraway seeds to chew or burning incense in his or her office even though it may work, may not be a good idea. If you are into advancement offer garlic capsules or powder.

From as little as 1 to 3 cloves raw garlic a day is sufficient for harnessing the healing properties. This is about the same as one 1000mg capsule of concentrated garlic extract. According to some research pharmacologists, pure garlic powder is the best way if you are not into the raw product. A 300mg tablet of garlic powder is equivalent to 1 raw clove more or less.

Garlic counters most negative influences on the cardio vascular system----very useful to take a clove or two when dealing with government and municipal officials or home training the new puppy.
It lowers the blood pressure, thins the blood and protects the heart. So it is useful in preventing thrombosis, heart attack and improving blood circulation.
For those approaching second childhood, it may help to keep the blood vessels flexible by minimizing Atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries).

The evidence for angels is overwhelming. But then garlic multitasks and angels I was told have only a single task so they focus and complete the task undisturbed. So what has that got to do with the Anti oxidant action of garlic and that it lowers total serum cholesterol and increases the good cholesterol. Both garlic and angels if used in moderation benefit life processes and are freely available and seldom used.

The combination of amino acids, polyphenols, amino acid derivatives, vitamins and sulphuric compounds (Alliin is responsible for many beneficial effects) in garlic are a google advert for good health and disease prevention. It is just so easy to add a chopped clove to a sandwich or any meal. Such a nice way to screw big Pharma of their hold on society –of course they may counter by trying to patent garlic.
Not funny—that pure white standardized garlic that is sold in supermarkets is imported from China and irradiated and who knows what else. If you can, petition your vendor for local garlic—Local is Lekka.

The sulphur compounds in garlic effect the growth of cancer cells and the research into prostate and breast cancer indicate very positive results in inhibiting cell growth especially with aged garlic extract which has more sulphuric compounds than raw garlic. Indeed garlic works wonders in most cancers for healing and prevention.

As a natural antibiotic it kills off or inhibits the bacteria that cause ear infection: Staph infections from enteritis, stomach cramps, vomiting and diarrhoea: bacteria that cause thyroid problems, skin diseases, stomach bugs---the list is endless and if you need to have more detail please e mail me and I will send you more information but I do not want to promote information overload.

Certain pathogens which flourish in damp hidden places would at least benefit and at best be killed from a clove of garlic a day—Candida, Intestinal Parasites, Fungi causing Ear dis-ease, Athletes Foot, Viruses that cause Flu, HIV, Politicians, Bankers, Amoeba causing Diarrhoea and many more.Apply topicaly at site of injury, with polititians and bankers a hefty emena may help.

Very sadly, most health practitioners are ignorant of the help offered by herbs and certain foods in countering the side effects of medication especially antibiotics which are used indiscriminately. Even worse is that allopathic practitioners from doctors to welfare workers are ignorant of the side effects caused---for example hundred of millions of people are infected with the tuberculosis bacterium and are usually treated by a cocktail of antibiotics and garlic prevents the liver damage which may result.

Amyloid-beta protein (the main cause of Alzheimer’s disease) was exposed to fresh or boiled garlic extract. Garlic extract inhibited amyloid-beta protein-induced fibril formation and also defibrillated amyloid-beta protein preformed fibrils.
Bullsh baffles brain. So garlic may prevent Alzheimer’s. Garlic also increases the brain level of Serotonin thus improving memory.(Chicken soup does the same so maybe add garlic to the soup for souper retention)

From Russia with Love comes the news that garlic may alleviate most of the symptoms of Pre Menstrual Syndrome (PMS).

One of the constituents of garlic, an enzyme Alliinase converts to Alliin and has been demonstrated to kill the influenza virus type B. This alliin also gets rid of some tapeworms..
I met a tattooed man who got rid of his warts and psoriasis by squishing a clove and smearing it over the affected parts and covering with a plaster.

When dealing with a breakdown in one aspect of the body health, it may be wise to treat the whole system rather than focus on a single organ or system. In this way mixtures of herbs may work more effectively than a single herb—some helping with elimination and detoxing. Our mixtures contain herbs, which do all that and fortify the mineral and vitamin supply hence providing a more complete healing process with no side effects.

The process of cutting a herb generates heat so the finer the cut of the herb so too does the potency diminish that little bit. So I recommend the rough tea cut rather than teabags even though it appears to be a mission to make in the rush rush everyday world.

Guidance with professional health practitioners from the naturopath, sangoma, dietician, alternative healer to a MD is an responsible course of action when dealing with any substance affecting your health.

IN MOST CASES WE REFER TO DRIED HERB WHEN ADVOCATING AMOUNTS IN TEASPOON FOR TEAS .

DOUBLE THE AMOUNT WHEN USING FRESH HERB.

These herb properties are directly connected to and derived from the forces of nature - if you want to call it Godhead, Greater hierarchy, Krishna, Yaveh, Allah, it does not matter—these are the forces that we can trust today. So treat the herbs with the respect due to a great natural force, never mind the ravings of a semi lunatic political, media force doing their best to undermine common sense.
Prevention is better than cure.

In the next newsletter we will deal with Cancerbush in the series called Streetwise - talking about medicinal properties of herbs found growing in the streets, garden and the wild.

ANTIBIOTICS PART 3

Antibiotics work by killing the bacterial cells or preventing their growth and reproduction. So antibiotics are classed by the way they act on the bacteria.
For e.g. Penicillin, cephalosporum, aminoglycosides work like the biblical horns at Jericho—they break down the cell wall structure and “crash” no more bacterium. If the bacterium is resistant then it won’t have he desired effect.

Quinolones and sulphonamides gum up the systems that manufacture DNA.
DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) carries the plan for the living creature be it mouse, man or government official. So if the plan is blocked by an anti biotic, the organism and in this case the bacterium does not become virulent. The DNA of man and bacterium differ in their making so antibiotics should not affect healthy cells.
The DNA of politician and corporate heads may have been slightly altered to give rise to mutants.
That is not proved but the actions of presidents of countries, banks and large corporations do not resemble those of humans.

Tetracyclines prevent the cell factory from producing the basics for the end product, somewhat like unions putting down tools and going on strike and in so doing just screwing up the whole ongoing process so no growth happens----.remind you of something?

If you are taking antibiotics, it may be wise to take an anti oxidant food or tea with it as the dosages result in free radicals which may cause other ill factors.
Some anti oxidants
Beer, Wine Apples Berries, Grapes, Garlic, Ginger,Oranges, Plums, Reishi Mushrooms,Onions, Iceberg Lettuce Spinach Wheatgrass, Olives.Miso from fermented soya bean is very good. The choice of herbs is so many Rosemary, Balm Astragalus, Licorice Green tea are some of the many common ones. Many herbs and vegetables contain bioflavonoids which are potent anti oxidants.
Taking a shower is not going to get rid of bacteria. That is a myth which only primitive morons may believe. On the other hand a good salad a day helps keep the side effects at bay.

Both pharmaceutical and alternative antibiotics have their uses. The plant alternatives are usually less invasive, have minimal or no side effects, are relatively much cheaper and notably do not have bacterial resistance because they have had many millenia of interaction with the different bacteria and have developed ways to overcome them such as producing natural antibiotic substances that are bactericidal.

In the west we are blinded by the scientific approach of breaking down a substance to find its potent part: thus excluding all the compounds in the plant which have complementary actions such as preventing side effects and increasing the general potency of the active principal.
I suspect our approach to herbs is from ignorance and it is the plant itself that has to be called on to furnish the way of usage and preparation. This is not the standard approach and many herbalists may have not even seen, planted or spoken to the herbs they use

Likely you would find herbal antibiotics growing in your garden or hanging round your kitchen waiting for a chance to help.
Many are synergists which means.they are potent on their own yet add major vooma to the plant antibiotics and pharmaceuticals being used by increasing the absorption, and assimilation of the healing properties of the medication.
This is a new area of herbology for the west and it seems that the synergistic action of Pepper, Licorice and Ginger is more widespread in the body aiding circulation of active ingredients throughout the body.

Synergists such as Rosemary, Thyme, Sage and Lemon Grass act locally and application is usually topical using very low dosages of oils on skin lesions.
These local synergists also work in the alimentary tract: eg Thyme and Sage tea is great for sore throats

The use of a single herb may be good because the many compounds within it act together and the whole action is greater than the sum of the parts.Other herbs added to the mixture cause a much greater action and also a more wideranging effect on the body. The process is called synergy.
The overall effect of these synergistic herbs is to increase the potency of.other herbs and pharmaceuticals.by increasing absorption, lowering the necessary dosage, activating the healing ability of the substance and in some cases overcoming resistance by stopping the efflux pump mechanism of bacteria which is one of the ways bacteria maintain resistance to antibiotics.
We will continue with oher aspects of herbal antibiotics in the next newsletter.
