Since time does not allow most of us to read long newsletters, this newsletter will only deal with one herb at a time starting with the series kitchenwise and streetwise.
The myth that surrounds valerian is one that would be so useful today.
The pied piper of Hamelin is said to have lured the rats out of the city with valerian.
Imagine a ship full of valerian in the ocean offshore –would we then have a country devoid
of corruption, bank executives, lawyers and corporate thieves. Maybe not all but the remaining
few rats would be able to use Valerian for their anxiety in case they were next. Stomach disorders
are often caused by stress factors so valerian root may alleviate stomach cramps and negative gut feeling.
Taking an infusion of the Valerian root helps insomnia and restlessness. A teaspoon of the root
to a cup of hot water twice a day and a bit of lemon is ok with it. Take the tea 2 hours before
sleep time—often the effect is cumulative and works better after a longer period sometimes as
long as a month. Useful to wean off sleeping tablet addiction
Tinctures and extracts are also available for the rush of daily despairs.
Painful cramps during menstruation are often alleviated by a daily dose of 2 cups of tea. The valerian
reduces the contractile tension of the muscles of the uterus.
Glioblastoma multiforme is a fatal brain cancer found in adults. Parthenolide from valerian stimulated
cell suicide of the gliablastoma cells.
Valerian is not contraindicated when used in small dosages. Not for people with low blood sugar or
low blood pressure. No side effects have been found. You shouldn’t be drinking alcohol and taking
anything for that matter.
When dealing with a breakdown in one aspect of the body health, it may be wise to treat the whole system rather than focus on a single organ or system. In this way mixtures of herbs may work more effectively than a single herb—some helping with elimination and detoxing.Our mixtures contain herbs, which do all that and fortify the mineral and vitamin supply hence providing a more complete healing process with no side effects.
The process of cutting a herb generates heat so the finer the cut of the herb so too does the potency diminish that little bit. So I recommend the rough tea cut rather than teabags even though it appears to be a mission to make in the rush rush everyday world.

Insomnia is the inability to fall asleep or remain asleep for an adequate length of time during
normal sleep hours or in the absence of noise or bright light. Insomnia may vary in intensity
from restlessness or disturbed sleep to shortening of the normal length of sleep or to total
Types of Insomnia
• Chronic Insomnia is long-standing Insomnia.
• Advanced Sleep Phase Disorder is a type of Insomnia. Its prime characteristic
is that the major episode of Sleep for each day is advanced in relation to the desired
clocktime, resulting in compelling evening sleepiness, an early sleep onset, and an
awakening that is earlier than desired.
• Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder is a type of Insomnia where persons are unable
to fall asleep at the desired clock-time but have little difficulty in falling asleep
if bedtime is delayed for several hours. The duration of Sleep is usually normal.
It is classed as a Circadian Rhythm Disorder.
Circadian Rhythm is the "internal clock" that manages a variety of natural body rhythms
(for example the Sleeping and Waking cycle). Circadian Rhythm is under the influence
of Melatonin secreted by the Pineal Gland.
During their waking hours, DSPD patients are usually more fatigued than healthy persons.
This kind of behaviour can be seen in parliament amongst the concerned representatives of the people.
Probably the reason you cannot ever find someone accountable is that they are catching up on sleep
and nursing hangovers.
• Early-Waking Insomnia (also known as Early Morning Awakening) is a type of Insomnia
in which the sufferer falls asleep normally (within a reasonable period after going to bed) but
awakens early and cannot fall asleep again or drifts into a restless, unsatisfying sleep. This type
of Insomnia commonly occurs with the Aging Process. It is sometimes due to Depression, Anxiety
and generally negative thoughts. Sometimes Early-Waking Insomnia occurs as one of the symptoms
of Advanced Sleep Phase Disorder. Some say that to practise gratitude on awakening is a good way to go.
For e.g. thinking of 10 things you are grateful for. The awareness of the feeling of gratitude is a
big step forward in human growth. More so than the one-step for mankind on the moon.
• Initial Insomnia is a form of Insomnia that involves difficulty in falling asleep.
It is commonly associated with emotional disorders such as Anxiety, Phobias or Depression.
It can also occur as a result of Pain, Respiratory problems, stimulant use, withdrawal of sedative
drugs, poor Sleep hygiene (such as a variable Sleep schedule) or other Sleep-related disorders
such as Restless Legs Syndrome, Sleep Apnea or Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder.
This kind of insomnia is not common amongst politicians and corporate upper management whose psyche
is based on greenbacks and deception.(most of them). A built in lack of conscience and a
leaning towards self enrichment by any means is basic to them. Something goes off track,
no worries just form a committee .
• Jet Lag is a type of Sleep Disorder caused by the desynchronization of Circadian Rhythms,
induced by a change in the sleep-wake cycle. The underlying cause of Jet Lag is often travel
across several time-zones of the world - its symptoms are usually worse when travelling from west to east.
• Rebound Wakefulness (also known as Rebound Insomnia) is a form of Insomnia that commonly
occurs when hypnotics are withdrawn from a patient who regularly takes heavy doses and newly
divorced and jilted lovers. Most patients wrongly interpret this as recurrence of Chronic Insomnia.
• Transient Insomnia (also known as Short-Term Insomnia) is Insomnia that lasts from a few nights to a few weeks.
Somehow it sounds like an extended one night stand.
Side-Effects of Insomnia
Chronic Insomnia is associated with a reduction in life span (i.e. early death).
Chronic Insomnia may increase the risk of Hypertension.
Insomnia may reduce the effectiveness of the immune system
Chronic Insomnia may increase the risk of Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 and
may increase the risk of Insulin Resistance.
Insomnia may cause impairment in Concentration ability, Irritability and Stress.
Biological function of Sleep
Growth Hormone (hGH) is secreted into the bloodstream by the anterior lobe of
the Pineal Gland during Sleep (specifically during Slow-Wave Sleep).
Melatonin is secreted into the bloodstream by the Pineal Gland during Sleep.
Testosterone production and release occurs during Sleep and Sleep deprivation
leads to lower serum levels of Testosterone.
Hair growth occurs during Sleep. So losing hair!—sleep on it.
Optimal quantities of Sleep enhance the function of the Immune System,
benefiting optimal function of NK Lymphocytes (Natural Killer Cells).
The etheric body renews itself during sleep.
Grapefruit (juice consumed at night) may improve the quality of Sleep
Herbs that may improve Sleep
Lavender (oil used in Aromatherapy) may improve the quality of Sleep.
Passion Flower may induce a restful Sleep free from frequent awakenings and disturbances.
Valerian may improve the quality of Sleep.
A tea of equal quantities of Catmint, Valerian and Vervain with crushed Ginger may help insomnia,
Take a half-teaspoon of each to 2 cups of hot water hour before bedtime.
Spices such as nutmeg and coriander may help by reducing anxiety.
Other Factors that may Improve the Quality of Sleep
Moderate exposure to Sunlight may improve the quality of Sleep
(probably due to the UV-A content of sunlight).
Regular Exercise may increase the quality of Sleep
